Security, privacy & AI safety.
Compass organizes complex family-law information into structured, source-linked case intelligence while preserving original evidence and keeping legal conclusions under human professional control. This page explains how.
Trust pillars
Encryption
Data is transmitted over TLS and stored on managed cloud infrastructure maintained by a dedicated platform provider with continuous monitoring.
Authentication
Access is gated behind secure authentication. MFA enforcement for professional accounts is on our security roadmap (see below).
Access controls
Records are isolated per user account via server-enforced row-level security. Other users cannot read, edit, or delete your records. Organization and matter-level role permissions are on our roadmap.
Evidence integrity
Every uploaded evidence file receives a SHA-256 hash and an integrity record. The original file is never modified by Compass AI. Derived and AI-generated content is stored separately and clearly labeled.
AI safety
AI organizes information — it never determines guilt, credibility, abuse, or legal violations, and never predicts outcomes. Every AI observation is labeled and traceable to its source. Legal conclusions stay under human professional control.
Privacy
We do not use your matter information to train Compass models. We minimize the information sent to AI services and design provider contracts to prevent third-party model training wherever supported.
Data retention
You may delete your records at any time. Configurable retention policies and legal-hold controls are on our roadmap.
Incident response
Administrators can record and track security incidents in a dedicated management area. Affected accounts, matters, and resolutions are documented.
Vendor management
An internal vendor registry tracks purpose, data accessed, AI involvement, and review status to support law-firm security reviews.
